Amboseli
Amboseli has one of the most amazing scenic views of any National Park not only in Kenya but in the world, this is due to its location of being directly under the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro, which gives visitors to the park a spectacular view of the Mountain, which provides an ideal backdrop for spotting wildlife. The animals that you can see in this reserve can range from predators including cheetahs, crocodiles, and the rare African hunting dog, to ungulates such as eland, impala, zebra, warthog, and the rare reticulated giraffe. Africa’s most desired game spotting, the ‘Big Five’, which is made up of Cape buffalo, black rhino, elephant, leopard and the mighty Masai lion can all be spotted in Amboseli, with the elephant population estimated to be around a massive 1,600!
Masai Mara National Reserve
The Masai Mara extends to the North from the Serengeti, and it shares many traits with its Tanzanian neighbour, including the wide, openness of its landscape. Not only does it share its terrain with the Serengeti, but it also shares the hosting of one of the greatest natural wonders of the world, the ‘Great Migration’. The migration sees over 1 million wildebeest make their annual journey from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara, whilst trying to dodge death along the way, with threat coming from ruthless predators such as lion and crocodile that reside in and around the Mara River. Following the migration leaves no one disappointed, and you can stay at a number of lodges that give perfect vantage points for viewing many of the crucial parts of the journey.
Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley Soda Lakes, which measures around 60 square Kilometres in size. The Lake is said to be one of the greatest in the country for bird spotting, as there are well over 400 species of bird living within the surrounding area. One of these birds adds something really special to this park, the flamingo. Both the greater and lesser variety of flamingos line the shores of the Lake in populations of over 1 million to give the impression of a pink Lake. It is a stunning sight to see so many of these vibrant, pink birds in one place.
