Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi - Maasai Mara
Your 6-day Maasai Cultural Safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading southwest to the world-famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Upon arrival, check in at your safari lodge or tented camp and enjoy lunch before your first afternoon game drive. The Mara is renowned for its vast savannahs and abundant wildlife, including lions, elephants, cheetahs, zebras, and wildebeest. The evening offers an opportunity to witness a Maasai cultural performance or interact with local Maasai communities. Dinner and overnight are spent at your lodge within the reserve.
Days 2: Maasai Mara
Spend a full day exploring the Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. Between drives, you can visit nearby Maasai villages to learn about their traditions, customs, and way of life. The combination of wildlife sightings and cultural immersion provides a holistic safari experience. Dinner and overnight are at your lodge or camp in the Mara.
Day 3: Maasai Mara - Amboseli
After breakfast, depart the Mara and travel southeast to Amboseli National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or tented camp before enjoying an afternoon game drive. Amboseli offers exceptional wildlife viewing, including lions, giraffes, zebras, and hippos in the park’s swamps. Dinner and overnight are at your lodge in Amboseli.
Day 4: Amboseli National Park
Enjoy a full day of exploration in Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives. Between drives, visit a Maasai community nearby to learn about traditional customs, dress, and rituals, and witness the vibrant cultural heritage of the Maasai people. The park’s open landscapes, swamps, and iconic Kilimanjaro backdrop make this a memorable day. Dinner and overnight are at your lodge in Amboseli.
Day 5: Amboseli - Samburu
After breakfast, depart Amboseli and travel north to Samburu National Reserve, a rugged wilderness famed for its rare northern species and unique landscapes. Arrive for lunch at your lodge or camp before an afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River. Samburu is home to the “Samburu Special Five”: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk, alongside elephants and big cats. Dinner and overnight are at your lodge in Samburu.
Day 6: Samburu National Reserve
Spend the morning on a final game drive in Samburu, taking in the dramatic scenery and abundant wildlife. Between drives, you can visit local Samburu communities to learn about their pastoral traditions and crafts. After breakfast or lunch at the lodge, begin your return journey to Nairobi, concluding your 6-day Maasai Cultural Safari, filled with wildlife encounters, scenic landscapes, and immersive cultural experiences.
