Planning a Kenya Safari From Kampala, Kigali or Bujumbura

The short answer

Nairobi is a short flight from Entebbe, Kigali and Bujumbura. A four night Kenya safari fits comfortably into a long weekend, and East African residents should always ask about regional park rates.

Regional travellers are often quoted as though they are flying in from Europe. They should not be. Distances, visas and park rates all work differently for you.

Section 01

Getting to Nairobi

Entebbe, Kigali and Bujumbura all connect to Nairobi in roughly one to two hours, with several daily options from Uganda and Rwanda. From Nairobi, the Masai Mara is a 45 minute flight or a five to six hour drive, which is what makes a genuinely short safari possible.

Section 02

Visas and documents

East African Community citizens travel between member states on far simpler terms than other visitors, and the East Africa Tourist Visa covers Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda on a single document for those who need it. We confirm exactly what your nationality and routing require before you book.

Section 03

Park rates and what to ask for

Kenya's parks and many camps publish separate rates for citizens and East African residents. If you hold residency, say so at enquiry stage and carry proof, because the difference on a four night trip is significant.

Ask us directly

Send us a WhatsApp message with your nationality, residency status and dates. We will quote the correct rate band rather than a generic international price.

A long weekend that works

Fly Friday morning, transfer to the Mara the same day, two full game drive days, fly home Monday. Four nights, no leave burned beyond a day, and a genuine safari rather than a rushed one.
