Gorilla permits are dated, limited in number per family per day, and non transferable. In practice this means your travel dates are decided by permit availability, not the other way round. We check availability before anyone books a flight.
June to September and December to February are the driest and busiest trekking months. Permits for those windows go months in advance.

How hard is the trek
Expect anything from ninety minutes to six hours of walking on steep, humid, uneven ground, sometimes cutting through vegetation. Reasonable fitness matters more than youth. Porters are available and hiring one is both genuinely helpful and a direct contribution to the local economy.
Bring waterproofs, gaiters or long socks, gardening gloves for grabbing vegetation, and a walking pole. The hour with the family passes faster than you can believe.
Building it into a longer journey
Gorillas pair naturally with chimpanzee tracking in Kibale or Nyungwe, savannah game viewing in Queen Elizabeth or Akagera, and for guests already in Kenya, a Masai Mara leg before flying west. Burundi's Lake Tanganyika makes a genuinely restful finish for travellers who want somewhere very few visitors reach.
