About Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Bwindi is one of the most biologically diverse forests on earth, a 25,000 year old rainforest draped over steep ridges on Uganda's south-western border. It shelters roughly half the world's mountain gorillas across several habituated families, alongside 120 mammal species, 350 birds and 220 butterflies.
Trekking here is physical, humid and utterly unforgettable, and the permitted hour with a family at close range is the single most powerful wildlife encounter in Africa.
