About Jozani Forest

Jozani Chwaka Bay is Zanzibar's only national park and the last real refuge of the Zanzibar red colobus, a monkey found nowhere else on earth and down to a few thousand animals. Troops here are relaxed around people, so photography is easy.

Beyond the colobus, the park protects groundwater forest, coral rag thicket and a mangrove boardwalk that is one of the best short walks on the island, and it fits neatly into the drive between Stone Town and the east or north coast.
