About Samburu
Samburu sits in Kenya's hot, arid northern frontier along the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River, the lifeline that sustains its wildlife and lush riverine forest amid otherwise dry terrain. It is famous for the northern Special Five: Grevy's zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and beisa oryx, none of which are commonly found further south.
It is also one of the better parks in Kenya for spotting leopard, and was home to Elsa the lioness of Born Free fame.
